The United States from each state regulator’s list of the insurers it domiciles and the Texas licence exports, Canada from the OSFI register, Mexico from the AMIS directory, Bermuda’s ABIR commercial reinsurers, and the Caribbean and Central American markets from their supervisors’ registers where one is published.
Canada
Federally regulated insurers from the OSFI register: life, property and casualty and mortgage insurers, fraternals and the Canadian branches of foreign carriers. Provincially incorporated insurers are not itemised.
United States
The world’s largest insurance market, regulated state by state through the NAIC system: each state’s and territory’s domiciled insurers from its own regulator’s list, with the Texas licence exports and the captive registers of the main captive domiciles.
Bermuda
The world’s reinsurance and captive hub: the BMA Class 4 and other commercial (re)insurers that make up ABIR’s membership. Captives and special purpose insurers are not itemised.
Mexico
CNSF-supervised insurers and surety companies (afianzadoras) from the AMIS member directory and the CNSF padrón, with Patria Re as the only domestic reinsurer.
Central America & Caribbean
Caribbean and Central American markets, from the Bahamas and Belize to Grenada and Saint Lucia, each read from its supervisor’s register where one is published, plus one composite entry for selected groups in jurisdictions not listed separately.

An insurer’s domicile is the state or territory where it is incorporated, and that jurisdiction’s regulator is its primary supervisor. Domicile here comes from the register rows: the Texas Department of Insurance register records each company’s state of domicile, and a captive on the Vermont captive register is domiciled in Vermont. A state’s list is therefore the insurers in this directory that call it home, not its regulator’s own register of every insurer it licenses.
